Director

Matt brings to Equal Measure more than 10 years’ experience in fields such as community development, cradle-to-career educational pipelines, STEM, arts education, and population health—and has worked with organizations in the Philadelphia region and nationally. He has also led educational research initiatives in urban communities, with an emphasis on planning, stakeholder engagement, and implementation.

At Equal Measure, Matt leads project management and evaluation activities for engagements with the Annie E. Casey Foundation’s Youth Research Advisory project, the Aspen Institute Criminal Justice Reform Initiative’s Justice and Governance Partnership, and the City of Philadelphia’s Anti-Violence Community Expansion Grant Program. He also serves as a core team member for NSF’s Eddie Bernice Johnson INCLUDES Coordination Hub, a national initiative to broaden participation in STEM education and careers. Matt previously lent his expertise to the Florida Consortium of Metropolitan Universities; the Bill & Melinda Gates Foundation’s P-16, Equitable Futures, and Digital Learning Infrastructure initiatives; and a Pew Charitable Trusts initiative to improve college access and success for Hispanic immigrants, among other projects.

Prior to joining Equal Measure, Matt served as the senior research associate at the Rutgers-Camden Community Leadership Center, where he researched the effectiveness of cradle to college educational pipelines in a community development context. He also managed and directed multi-disciplinary and departmental research conferences, symposia, and publications around issues of universities as anchor institutions in community development, particularly in education, population health, STEM fields, and arts and humanities.
